Executive & Performance Coaching
Executive and performance coaching is one-to-one work with a single leader. It is not a course and it is not a curriculum. The agenda is whatever is actually in front of you: the conversation you have been putting off, the direct report whose performance has not moved, the peer who has quietly stopped cooperating, or the decision you keep re-opening.
Who is executive coaching for?
Executives and senior managers, leaders who have recently stepped up and are finding the job is not a bigger version of the last one, and founders who now lead a team larger than the one they know how to lead. The common thread is not seniority. It is a competent person who has hit the edge of what got them here.
What does the work actually cover?
- Judgment and decision quality — making the call once, with the information you actually have, and not quietly re-opening it later.
- Executive presence — how you land in a room, particularly when you are under pressure or being challenged.
- Delegation — the gap between handing work over and handing responsibility over, which is where most senior leaders are still the bottleneck.
- The conversations being avoided — performance, expectations, and the thing everyone in the room already knows.
- Managing across and up — peers who do not report to you, and a board or boss who needs a different kind of communication than your team does.
- How you show up when it goes badly — because that is the version of you your team calibrates against.
How is coaching different from consulting or mentoring?
A consultant studies your business and hands you an answer. A mentor tells you what they did in a similar situation. A coach works on your capability, so the next answer comes from you and still holds up after the engagement ends. Troy has 27+ years of executive leadership behind him, so the mentoring instinct is there — but the work is coaching.
Why does it usually start with DISC?
Because how you are wired shapes how you communicate, delegate, disagree and behave under pressure, and most leaders have never seen their own pattern written down. Read the full DISC guide, or see the applied DISC Behavioral Analysis service.
Executive coaching questions
- What is executive coaching?
- One-to-one work with a leader on the real situations in front of them, focused on changing specific behaviour rather than delivering a curriculum.
- Is coaching only for senior executives?
- No. It works for anyone leading other people, including managers who have recently stepped up.
- What should I bring to the work?
- A real situation, described specifically. 'My VP and I keep having the same argument' is workable. 'Improve my leadership' is not.
- How do I start?
- Book a free consultation and bring the one challenge you most want solved.
